Grilling brings out the natural sweetness of pears while the brown sugar and cinnamon glaze creates a luscious caramel coating. This easy recipe is perfect for summer cookouts or a cozy fall evening — serve it as-is, with ice cream, or even alongside grilled meats for a sweet-savory touch.

🕒 Total Time: 15 minutes

🍽️ Serves: 4

🍐 Ingredients

  • 4 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored (Bartlett or Bosc work best)

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp honey (optional for extra glaze)

  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

  • A squeeze of lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Optional for serving:

  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

  • Chopped pecans or walnuts

  • Caramel drizzle

🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat Grill:
Heat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F / 175°C).
Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

  2. Prepare the Pears:

    • Cut pears in half lengthwise and remove the core using a spoon or melon baller.

    • Brush each pear half with lemon juice to keep color bright.

  3. Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, honey, and nutmeg until smooth.

  4. Brush and Grill:

    • Brush the cut side of each pear with the glaze.

    • Place pears cut side down on the grill.

    • Grill for 4–5 minutes until grill marks form and sugar begins to caramelize.

  5. Flip and Finish:

    • Turn pears cut side up, brush with more glaze, and grill another 3–4 minutes until soft and golden.

  6. Serve Warm:

    • Transfer pears to plates, drizzle with remaining glaze or honey.

    • Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, nuts, or caramel sauce if desired.

🌿 Serving Ideas

  • Serve as a dessert with ice cream or whipped cream.

  • Add to pancakes, waffles, or French toast for brunch.

  • Pair with grilled pork chops or chicken for a sweet-savory twist.

💡 Tips for Perfect Grilled Pears

✅ Choose firm, ripe pears — too soft and they’ll fall apart.
✅ Use a basting brush to coat evenly with glaze.
✅ Try adding a dash of vanilla extract or a splash of rum to the glaze for depth.

✅ You can grill them in a cast-iron skillet if you prefer not to place them directly on grates
